Revitalizing North Titusville

A Community-Centered
Approach to Revitalization
North Titusville is a vital part of Birmingham’s history. At Navigate, our mission goes beyond building homes—we’re committed to strengthening the community through affordable housing and strategic development initiatives.

The Future of Housing
Navigate Affordable Housing Partners has been at the forefront of transforming communities, revitalizing neighborhoods, and breaking barriers in affordable housing. This documentary takes you inside our journey—showing how innovation, resilience, and community partnerships are shaping the future of housing.
Solutions for Today and Tomorrow
One of our signature projects in North Titusville is the development of Fortis—affordable, eco-friendly houses that can be built in as little as 45 days. Designed for sustainability and attainability, these homes use structurally insulated panels (SIPs) to enhance energy efficiency, lower utility costs, and ensure long-term durability. Their innovative design even caught the attention of The Build Show, which featured Fortis Homes on their YouTube channel.
PRESERVING HOMES, PRESERVING HISTORY
At Navigate Affordable Housing Partners, we believe in helping restore communities through transformative rehabilitation. Our work in North Titusville includes preserving older homes, addressing structural issues, non-functional systems, and ensuring modern, safe living conditions while honoring historical architecture. This approach not only maintains the cultural fabric of the neighborhood but is but one means of long-term affordability.
Empowering the Next Generation
Education is a cornerstone of community revitalization. In North Titusville, our commitment goes beyond affordable housing and economic development—we’re dedicated to creating opportunities for the next generation. Through our ongoing partnership with Washington K-8, we support students and invest in enriching their educational experiences, helping to build a stronger, more vibrant community.
Knowledge is Power
Navigate hosts the Titusville Empowerment Series at the Titusville Branch of the Birmingham Public Library. The goal is to educate our seniors about their rights, resources, and opportunities.

RESIDENT ENGAGEMENT
We believe that true community development thrives on resident involvement and feedback. By actively engaging with the people who call North Titusville home, we build stronger relationships and ensure that revitalization efforts reflect their needs and aspirations. This collaborative approach makes transformation a shared success—one that honors the neighborhood’s history while paving the way for a more sustainable and affordable future for generations to come.
Beyond Housing
Revitalization is about more than housing—it’s about creating opportunities for economic growth that uplift the entire community. One of our key initiatives is the redevelopment of the historic Marc Steel building, a landmark of North Titusville’s industrial past. This project goes beyond preservation; it’s about transforming the space into a vibrant hub for business, community engagement, and the arts. In 2024, the building hosted a milestone event—renowned folk artist and Titusville native Joe Minter held his first solo exhibit in his hometown at Marc Steel, marking a new chapter in its legacy.
