Ebony Hall (00:08) When people say Section 8, they usually mean the Housing Choice Voucher Program. So this program helps low income families, older adults, and people with disabilities afford rent in the private market. You choose where to live, an apartment, house, or duplex, and the voucher helps you cover the rent. To apply, you can contact your local public housing agency, and they'll check three things. They'll look at your total household income, the size of your family, and your citizenship or immigration proof of income, ID, and household details. If you qualify, your name will be added to a wait list and when your name comes up, the agency will guide you through the next step. Now if you want to live on tribal land, you need to contact your tribe or tribally designated housing entity instead. This is the first step toward housing stability. So next week we'll explain project-based vouchers and how they're different from the regular Section 8 program. Thanks for watching.
