PRO Housing Funding Opportunity Available

Posted On: August 8, 2023

PRO Housing Funding is available as The Department of Housing and Urban Development continues the expansion of affordable housing resources. The funding opportunity comes as the agency continues its fight in lowering housing costs by increasing supply. The $85 million opportunity is the first of its kind and is available to affordable housing providers to address local housing challenges. HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge says HUD recognizes communities “have unique housing challenges and that’s why the resources announced are not one size fits all.”

We are acting to increase the supply of affordable housing, which is crucial to lowering housing costs. We look forward to continuing this work in partnership with local communities.”

Marcia L. Fudge, HUD Secretary

Fudge says the Pro Housing Funding Opportunity will help communities identify, and remove barriers to affordable housing production and preservation.

Pro Housing and Rental Assistance

Additionally, HUD is also providing public housing authorities and multifamily housing owners participating in the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) with new tools to repair and build affordable housing. The supplemental RAD notice provides additional flexibilities for housing providers that will enhance RAD’s ability to support repairs to thousands of affordable homes over the next three years. The notice also promotes water and energy investments. Furthermore, new requirements to address climate resilience and adopt stronger energy efficiency standards are included.

Finally, HUD leaders point to Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing commitment to affordable housing. The Housing Supply Action Plan’s main focus is to lower the cost of housing for all Americans.
