FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JUNE 12, 2019
Birmingham, Alabama: Navigate Affordable Housing Partners today announces the nonprofit has donated $50,000 to Washington K-8. The elementary school is part of the Birmingham City Schools district. The donation is part of Navigate’s continued Community Development efforts in the North Titusville area.
“For the purposes of Community Development, we are going to operate in four spaces,” says CEO Lisa McCarroll. “We’re going to help with housing, blight removal, education and what we’re calling Catalytic Development.”
Navigate employees have volunteered to read to and with Washington K-8 students over the last four months. Team members also answered students’ questions about careers at the school’s job fair.
“Strong schools make for strong communities,” McCarroll says. “Strong communities have healthy families.”
The Navigate team looks forward to the continued partnership with Washington Elementary, led by Principal Dr. Antonia Ishman.
