Navigate’s Innovative Approach to Affordable & Sustainable Living in Goldwire Heights

At Navigate, we believe sustainable living can also be affordable, putting homeownership within reach. We recently announced the construction of two new homes in the Goldwire Heights subdivision. With architects at Design Initiative, we designed these homes to be affordable, energy-efficient, and resilient, focusing on rapid deployment techniques, high-grade materials, and state-of-the-art construction methodologies. The initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to offering high-quality, affordable housing options while actively engaging in blight removal, addressing vacant lots, and replenishing new inventory in Birmingham’s historic North Titusville neighborhood.

Navigate’s Commitment to Community Development

The two new homes are a significant milestone in Navigate’s community development efforts. Our key focus is on affordability, energy efficiency, and resilience. What sets these homes apart is their unique blend of rapid deployment techniques, high-grade materials, and state-of-the-art construction methodologies. In addition, we designed these homes with working families in mind to create a healthy, nurturing environment that encourages prosperity and growth.

Affordable Housing: A Fundamental Need

Navigate firmly believes in the potential of every individual to thrive when provided with the right opportunities and resources. And a decent, affordable place to live is one of the most fundamental needs for a quality life. To this end, we’ve poured our expertise into creating these homes that are not just affordable but also reflect a high standard of quality.

Rapid Deployment: A Response to Urgent Housing Needs

At Navigate, we understand the pressing need for more affordable housing in our communities. That’s why we’ve adopted rapid deployment techniques in our construction processes, enabling us to deliver these new homes within a remarkably short timeline. Using pre-fabricated components and streamlined construction practices not only hastens the building process but also ensures quality, affordability, and consistency.

Energy Efficiency and Resilience: Beyond Traditional Construction

Design Initiative designed the homes to go beyond the traditional construction methods. The homes will also be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. This commitment to sustainability reflects how we incorporate innovative technologies and sustainable materials into our construction processes. For instance, installing structural insulated panels (SIPs) reduces energy consumption, enhances energy efficiency, and minimizes environmental impact. These components, combined with our resilience-focused design, produce hardened buildings that can withstand harsh weather conditions and natural disasters, providing a secure living environment for our residents.

Construction Open House: Showcasing our Commitment to Affordable and Sustainable Living

We are hosting a construction open house event on June 14, 2023, from 9 am to noon to showcase our commitment to affordable and sustainable living.

“This event is your chance to see firsthand the process of constructing high-quality, affordable homes we are building,” says Director of Planning and Community Development Matthew Churnock. “It truly embodies our commitment to affordable and sustainable living.”

In addition, you can explore one of the homes and learn about the techniques used in their construction, including the innovative structural insulated panels (SIPs).

This event marks another step in our journey towards creating communities that are not just affordable but sustainable, resilient, and inclusive. As we strive for a world where everyone has a decent place to live, we invite you to join us on this journey and be a part of our vision for a better, brighter, sustainable future where affordable housing is a reality, not a dream.
